Watches Warranty Policy
At DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers, we are committed to the quality, reliability, and professional evaluation of our pre-owned luxury watches while providing clear and exceptional customer care. This policy explains our one-year limited warranty for qualifying watches only, including eligibility requirements, exclusions, what is covered, how to file a claim, shipping, and our repair process.
Warranty coverage is not automatic for every watch sold by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers. Coverage applies only to watches that meet all eligibility requirements listed in this policy.
DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers is an independent luxury marketplace and independent watch dealer. We are not an authorized dealer, official service center, partner, sponsor, or representative of any watch brand unless explicitly stated in writing. Brand names, model names, logos, boxes, papers, or trademarks may appear only to identify the pre-owned item being sold.
Important Warranty Summary
DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers’ one-year limited watch warranty applies only to qualifying watches that meet all of the following requirements:
- The watch was purchased directly from DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers;
- The watch had a purchase price of over USD $5,000 at the time of sale;
- The watch was serviced by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers prior to sale;
- The appraisal, sales documentation, order record, receipt, or written warranty confirmation states that the watch was serviced by DJP prior to sale;
- The watch is not vintage or antique;
- The watch is not custom, aftermarket, modified, altered, or non-original;
- The watch is not otherwise excluded under this policy.
The one-year limited warranty begins on the date of purchase. It does not begin on the date the watch was serviced, reviewed, inspected, tested, or prepared by DJP prior to sale.
Warranty Eligibility Is Determined by DJP Documentation
Each watch sold by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers includes an appraisal or item documentation. This documentation may state whether the watch was serviced by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers prior to sale.
If DJP documentation does not confirm that the watch was serviced by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers prior to sale, the watch is not covered by DJP’s one-year limited warranty.
Warranty eligibility is determined by the written appraisal, sales documentation, order record, receipt, or written warranty confirmation provided by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers.
For purposes of this policy, “serviced by DJP” means DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers performed or approved a pre-sale service review on the watch prior to sale. This review may include water-resistant pressure testing, vibrograph/timekeeping performance testing, general functionality review, visual condition review, and basic operational inspection.
Inspection, authentication, appraisal, photography, cleaning, listing preparation, or general evaluation alone does not create warranty eligibility unless DJP documentation confirms that the watch was serviced by DJP prior to sale.
DJP Pre-Sale Watch Service and Testing
For purposes of this policy, a watch serviced by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers before sale may include DJP’s pre-sale service review and testing process.
DJP’s standard pre-sale watch service review may include:
- Water-resistant pressure testing, when applicable;
- Vibrograph/timekeeping performance testing to evaluate movement performance;
- General functionality review;
- Visual condition review;
- Basic operational inspection.
Unless specifically stated in writing, DJP’s pre-sale service review does not include parts replacement, full movement overhaul, manufacturer service, restoration, refinishing, polishing, or replacement of worn internal or external components.
A watch may be considered serviced by DJP for warranty eligibility only when DJP’s appraisal, sales documentation, order record, receipt, or written warranty confirmation states that the watch was serviced by DJP prior to sale.
Eligibility for One-Year Limited Warranty
DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers’ one-year limited watch warranty applies only to qualifying watches that meet all required eligibility conditions.
To qualify for warranty coverage, the watch must:
- Have been purchased directly from DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers;
- Have a purchase price of over USD $5,000 at the time of sale;
- Have been serviced by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers prior to sale;
- Have DJP documentation confirming that the watch was serviced by DJP prior to sale;
- Not be vintage, antique, collectible, sold as-is, or sold for parts;
- Not contain aftermarket, customized, modified, altered, or non-original parts;
- Not be custom stone-set or customized with aftermarket precious or semi-precious stones;
- Not have any pre-existing condition disclosed at the time of purchase;
- Not have been opened, repaired, serviced, polished, altered, modified, pressure-tested, adjusted, or handled by any unauthorized third party after purchase.
A watch qualifies for warranty coverage only if all of the above conditions are met.
Warranty Term
For eligible watches only, the one-year limited warranty begins on the date of purchase and continues for one year from that purchase date.
The warranty does not begin on the date DJP serviced, reviewed, inspected, tested, or prepared the watch prior to sale.
Any pre-sale service performed by DJP before the purchase date does not extend, restart, or change the warranty period. The purchase date shown on the customer’s receipt, invoice, order record, or sales documentation controls the warranty start date.
Watches Sold Without Warranty
The following watches are sold without DJP warranty coverage:
- Vintage watches;
- Antique watches;
- Watches with a purchase price of USD $5,000 or less;
- Watches not serviced by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers prior to sale;
- Watches whose DJP documentation does not confirm DJP service prior to sale;
- Watches sold as-is;
- Watches sold for parts, restoration, display, or collectible purposes;
- Watches with aftermarket, customized, modified, altered, or non-original parts;
- Custom stone-set watches;
- Watches with pre-existing conditions disclosed at the time of purchase;
- Watches repaired, opened, altered, modified, polished, pressure-tested, adjusted, serviced, or handled by any unauthorized third party after purchase.
Vintage and Antique Watches — No Warranty
All vintage and antique watches are sold without warranty.
Due to age, originality, discontinued parts, prior service history, material aging, water-resistant limitations, and the collectible nature of vintage and antique timepieces, DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers does not provide warranty coverage for vintage or antique watches.
Vintage and antique watches are not guaranteed for:
- Future timekeeping accuracy;
- Water-resistant performance;
- Parts availability;
- Long-term mechanical performance;
- Serviceability;
- Manufacturer support;
- Compatibility with modern parts or service standards.
This exclusion applies regardless of brand, purchase price, appraised value, condition, collectability, prior evaluation, prior inspection, or prior service history.
Watches Priced at USD $5,000 or Less — No Warranty
Watches with a purchase price of USD $5,000 or less are sold without DJP warranty coverage.
This applies even if the watch has been inspected, authenticated, evaluated, appraised, cleaned, tested, or reviewed by DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers.
Aftermarket, Customized, or Modified Watches — No Warranty
Watches with aftermarket, customized, modified, altered, or non-original parts are not eligible for warranty coverage unless DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers provides a separate written warranty approval at the time of sale.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Aftermarket diamond or gemstone bezels;
- Custom stone-set dials, bezels, cases, bracelets, or lugs;
- Non-original dials, hands, crystals, crowns, bezels, bracelets, clasps, or case parts;
- Modified movements;
- Altered cases or serial/reference markings;
- Any watch changed from its original manufacturer configuration.
Custom stone-set watches are not guaranteed to be water-resistant, and water damage is not covered.
What’s Covered in Our One-Year Limited Watch Warranty
For eligible watches only, DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers provides a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase.
The warranty covers service-related mechanical issues only, including:
- Mechanical Defects: Internal movement issues such as timekeeping inaccuracies, malfunctioning chronographs, internal movement malfunction, or other covered mechanical failures;
- Timekeeping Issues: Significant timekeeping issues outside normal mechanical tolerance;
- Chronograph Malfunction: Chronograph malfunction, where applicable;
- DJP-Serviced Repair Issues: Mechanical defects related to DJP-approved pre-sale service performed prior to sale.
Warranty coverage is limited to repair service only. DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers will determine whether an issue qualifies for warranty repair after inspection.
DJP’s warranty covers service-related mechanical issues only. It does not guarantee that parts were replaced during pre-sale service unless parts replacement is specifically stated in writing.
DJP’s one-year limited warranty does not cover the cost of replacement parts. If replacement parts are needed, DJP may provide a separate paid quote upon the customer’s request.
This warranty does not provide refunds, replacements, store credit, cash compensation, reimbursement for third-party repairs, or reimbursement for service performed outside DJP unless DJP agrees in writing.
Parts Replacement During Warranty Service
DJP’s one-year limited warranty covers eligible service-related mechanical issues only. It does not include the cost of replacement parts unless DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers specifically agrees in writing.
If, during warranty inspection or warranty service, DJP determines that the watch requires replacement parts, components, or materials, the cost of those parts is not covered under DJP’s one-year limited warranty.
Replacement parts may include, but are not limited to:
- Movement parts;
- Crown, stem, crystal, bezel, pushers, seals, gaskets, bracelet, clasp, links, screws, or straps;
- Dial, hands, markers, date wheels, or external components;
- Any worn, aged, damaged, cosmetic, discontinued, non-defective, or unavailable components.
Upon the customer’s request, DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers may provide a separate paid quote for parts replacement, subject to parts availability, service feasibility, and customer approval.
DJP is not required to perform parts replacement unless the customer approves the quote in writing and any required payment arrangements are completed.
Water-Resistant Coverage and Limitations
Water-resistant coverage applies only when DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers specifically confirms water-resistant coverage in writing for that watch. Unless stated in writing, a pre-owned watch is not guaranteed to be water-resistant.
If water-resistant coverage is confirmed in writing, it applies only to eligible watches and only when the watch was used within the manufacturer’s stated limitations and the crown, pushers, and case components were properly secured.
Water-resistant performance can be affected by age, seals, gaskets, crowns, pushers, crystal condition, case wear, prior service history, aftermarket parts, or improper use.
Water damage is not covered if caused by:
- Unscrewed or unsecured crown;
- Improperly secured pushers;
- Use beyond manufacturer limitations;
- Exposure to steam, hot tubs, pools, saltwater, chemicals, or high-pressure water;
- Aging gaskets, seals, or crowns;
- Vintage or antique construction;
- Aftermarket, customized, modified, or stone-set parts;
- Improper handling, storage, or maintenance.
Vintage watches, antique watches, and custom stone-set watches should be treated as not water-resistant unless DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers states otherwise in writing.
What’s Not Covered by the Watch Warranty
This warranty does not cover:
- Wear and Tear: Normal wear such as scratches, dents, chips, discoloration, stretched bracelets, worn straps, or cosmetic changes;
- Crystal Damage: Cracked, chipped, scratched, or damaged crystals;
- External Components: Crown, stem, bezel, bracelet, clasp, link, strap, buckle, or external component damage caused by use;
- Accidents or Misuse: Damage caused by improper handling, accidents, negligence, dropping the watch, impact, mishandling, or improper storage;
- Extreme Conditions: Damage from exposure beyond manufacturer limitations, including temperature extremes, magnetic fields, chemicals, moisture, or water intrusion due to an unsecured crown;
- Unauthorized Repairs & Modifications: Damage caused by unauthorized repair, servicing, polishing, opening, pressure testing, adjustment, modification, or part replacement;
- Battery Replacement: Battery replacement, unless specifically stated in writing;
- Parts Replacement During Warranty Service: If a watch requires replacement parts during warranty inspection or warranty service, the cost of those parts is not covered under DJP’s one-year limited warranty unless DJP specifically agrees in writing. DJP may provide a separate paid quote for parts replacement upon the customer’s request;
- Loss of Stones: Loss of diamonds, gemstones, markers, screws, bezels, links, straps, or accessories;
- Custom Stone-Set Watches: Watches customized with aftermarket precious or semi-precious stones are not guaranteed to be water-resistant, and water damage is not covered;
- Pre-Existing Conditions: Any issues or conditions disclosed at the time of purchase;
- Loss or Theft: DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers is not responsible for lost or stolen watches;
- Shipping Loss Caused by Customer or Third Party: Customer-caused shipping loss or loss caused by use of unauthorized shipping methods;
- Manufacturer Warranty Claims: Manufacturer warranty claims or obligations;
- Incidental or Consequential Damages: Incidental, indirect, special, or consequential damages.
Third-Party Service May Void Warranty Coverage
Any repair, inspection, opening, pressure test, polishing, adjustment, part replacement, or service performed by a third party without DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers’ written approval may void warranty coverage.
Customers must contact DJP Jewelers & Luxury Buyers before attempting any outside repair or service.
